Ghana’s National Men’s Football eligible to only Ghana based players-the Black Galaxies-, have failed to qualify to the 2025 CHAN.

The Galaxies lost 3-1 to Nigeria in Uyo in the second leg of the qualifier after playing out a goalless draw in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium. Ghana conceded in the 19th, 22nd and 25th minute respectively.

Berekum Chelsea forward Stephen Amankona scored what turned out to be a consolation goal for Ghana in the loss. Ghana won’t compete in next year’s CHAN that is to be held in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

The Black Galaxies missed a handful of chances in the game highlighted by Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah’s miss in the 23rd minute when Ghana trailed 2-0.

Former Accra Great Olympics player, Amoah, who has seven goals in 12 league appearances, couldn’t steer his header into the net off a brilliant lay off from a corner kick.

Amoah peeled off his defender and found himself alone in the penalty box but his headed attempt from two yards was tame allowing Nigeria’s goalkeeper the chance to recover and make the save.
