Veteran sports journalist, Bright Kankam Boadu, has stated how proud he is after participating in the Save Ghana Football Protest.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports on the one year anniversary of the sports journalists-led demonstration that took place on February 14, 2024 on the back of Ghana’s group stage exit from the AFCON.

Thousands of football fans joined the Save Ghana Football Movement including sports journalists Saddick Adams and Veronica Commey to march through the streets of Accra and vent their displeasure over how Ghana football was being run.

Reflecting on the event, the 2025 Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Journalist of the Year, said he is proud of participating in the protest.

“As journalists, we needed to take action. We’ve been speaking about some of the things that are happening in Ghana football, things that needed to be changed and we decided to take it a notch further to go out on the streets to protest.”

“For me, I think it was a very good thing we did…for me, I feel very proud that I took the decision to be part of the conveners and I took action to get on the streets to peacefully protest against the way Ghana football was being handled.”
