Leicester City have been relegated from the Premier League after a dramatic 1–0 defeat to Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold came off the bench to deliver a stunning left-footed winner 14 minutes from time, putting the Reds just one victory away from their 20th English top-flight title; a feat that would equal Manchester United’s record.

The game began at a frantic pace. Mohamed Salah came agonizingly close to scoring in the opening minutes, striking both posts before the ball bounced out. Leicester responded with a Wilfred Ndidi effort that clipped the woodwork at the other end.

Liverpool kept the pressure on, with Ibrahim Konaté denied by a spectacular clearance from Ndidi and Salah missing another golden opportunity before the break.

After the hour mark, Leicester thought they’d taken the lead when Conor Coady headed in from close range, but the goal was chalked off for a foul by Patson Daka on Alisson.

The defining moment came in the 76th minute. Following a chaotic goalmouth scramble that saw two efforts bounce off the woodwork, the ball dropped to Alexander-Arnold, who rifled it home and celebrated by tearing off his shirt in front of the away end; perhaps in what could be one of his final iconic Liverpool moments.

Leicester, champions just eight years ago, now face the bitter reality of life in the Championship. Liverpool, meanwhile, need just one more win to lift the Premier League trophy.
