Ghana forward Jordan Ayew scored in Leicester City’s long awaited win and has stated that things went the team’s way in a campaign that has seen the Foxes relegated to the EFL Championship.
Jordan Ayew bagged his fifth goal in the 2024-2025 English Premier League season in the 2-0 win over relegated Southampton. Leicester have also been relegated from the EPL.
The 33 year old Black Stars captain smashed the ball into the net after his free kick attempt came off the Southampton wall in the 44th minute.
Beating Southampton marked Leicester’s first win in the league since January 26, 2025 that came via a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspurs.
Speaking in the post-game interview, Ayew looked to the Foxes finishing the season on a strong note with the game against Southampton going their way.

“We got the early goal, it helped us settle down in the game. Obviously, it has not been but I’m proud of the boys…we will keep on fighting till the end to try and finish as high as possible and that’s 18th that’s our target. I was lucky that the ball came back, I got a good strike…it has not been easy but today went our way so we are all happy” Ayew said in an interview with Leicester City media.
