President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), Bernard Quartey, has reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to developing the next generation of boxing stars following a stellar performance by three young athletes at the 2025 African Youth Boxing Championship, as achieved by the Black Rockets
Gideon Pappoe, George Dowuona, and Mathias Ashitey all clinched gold medals at the competition held in Conakry, Guinea
Speaking after their triumph, Mr. Quartey said the Federation will stop at nothing to elevate the boxers’ careers and integrate them into Ghana’s national boxing team, the Black Bombers.

“We are going to make sure that they train very hard up to the national level,” he said. “We believe in their potential and will do everything in our power to support their growth into top-level athletes.”
The GBF President emphasised that this success marks just the beginning, with the Federation focused on long-term development. The ultimate goal, he noted, is to position these athletes to win laurels for Ghana on the international stage.
