Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has praised the Black Queens for their resilience and determination after reaching the semifinals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

In a statement issued shortly after Ghana’s 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Algeria, the Minister described the moment as a proud one for the country, stating: “You have given the nation a reason to believe again.”

The Black Queens’ win marks their first semifinal appearance since 2016 and sets up a high-stakes clash with host nation Morocco on Tuesday, July 22.

This achievement reflects your discipline, composure and the strength of your collective spirit,” he said. “The journey through the group stage was not without its challenges, but you remained focused, built confidence with every match, and showed the quality and resilience worthy of your name.

The Ministry remains committed to providing everything required to keep you focused and ready for what lies ahead.
The entire nation stands with you. Ghana is proud of you already. Stay grounded, stay united and go into the next match knowing that a grateful country is behind you.
Go for Gold. Ghana believes in you.
