Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin says he is confident in the Black Queens match against South Africa later tonight to secure them a third place finish in the ongoing 2024 WAFCON in Morocco.

The Black Queens narrowly missed the opportunity to meet rivals Nigeria in the finals after they lost 4-2 penalties to Morocco in the semis.

Addressing the GFA leadership at the launch of the 2nd edition of the Democracy cup, the speaker expressed surprise at the team’s performance in the tournament

I was really very happy. The black queens, I should say, performed the way they did.
I didn’t expect that from them. So, Kurt, you are on the right course.

You can’t always be lucky when you are taking penalties. So this time around, I think God did not smile in our direction, so we lost the penalties.

If not, they performed very, very well. We were expecting to meet our brothers and sisters from Nigeria in the final, but it would have been only as usual, West African rivals. So God said, know, allow it to be North and West.

📍 One last dance. One last fight!

The Black Queens will take on defending champions, Banyana Banyana of South Africa, on July 25, 2025, at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in a crucial third-place playoff.

A victory for Ghana in this highly anticipated clash would not only secure a podium finish but also earn the team a cash prize of $350,000.
