President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has called for national recognition and reward for the Black Queens following their impressive performance at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where they secured a third-place finish.
Government officials have also praised the team for exceeding expectations, highlighting the commitment and progress of women’s football in the country.
Speaking after the team’s return, Okraku stated, “This is the time for us to reward them. Yes, they desired to bring the trophy home, but they have proven that they are on the right path.”
His remarks come on the back of a spirited campaign by the Queens, who defied the odds to earn Ghana’s first WAFCON medal since 2006.
