Daniel Dubois has broken his silence on the latest change to his backroom staff in connection to the firing of lead trainer Don Charles.
Reports of Charles’ dismissal as Dubois’ trainer were confirmed on Monday, August 18 just a few days short of a month since Dubois’ knockout loss to Oleksandr Usyk.
The British fighter lost suffered two knockdowns in the fifth round and failed to beat the count after the second knockdown in an undisputed heavyweight boxing bout in London on July 19.
Former IBF world heavyweight champion Dubois has since replaced Charles with Tony Sims as his lead trainer per reports. Sims is the trainer for British fighters Joe Cordina and Conor Benn.
“I want to take this moment to thank Don Charles and his team for all the time, effort and hard work they’ve put into me over the past 18 months. I’m truly grateful for everything.”

“That said, I feel it’s time for a change, a fresh approach for the next phase of my career, as I push forward to become a 2X heavyweight champion of the world, God bless” Dubois said according to Ring Magazine.

Dubois has 22 wins and three losses in his professional boxing career.
