Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club have responded to a ban slapped on the team by football world governing body FIFA over the club’s failure to settle a compensation.

The club’s failure to settle a compensation owed to Dutch coach Rene Hiddink, who worked as a Technical Director, led FIFA to slap a player transfer ban on the club for the next three registration windows. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

FIFA delivered the verdict on the long running legal issue on Friday, August 22, 2025 meaning that the Phobian club won’t be able to register international or national players for future competitions.

However, in a response to the FIFA ruling, Hearts of Oak, have directed their fans to remain calm and united in the face of another controversy stating,

“We wish to clarify that our current player registrations had been completed prior to the enforcement of this ban. Therefore, there will be no immediate disruption to our squad or competitive commitments.”

Former Hearts of Oak Technical Director Rene Hiddink

“We understand the concerns this may raise, and we appeal to our Phobian family to remain calm and united…we are confident that a constructive resolution will be reached” a portion of Hearts’ statement read.
