Arsenal Football Club head coach Mikel Arteta has dismissed reports linking Arsenal’s impending transfer for Eberechi Eze as a reaction to Kai Havertz’s injury.
The Gunners have reportedly agreed a deal in principle to sign Eze from Crystal Palace for 60 million pounds plus seven million pounds in add-ons.
The report came in after Arsenal confirmed that Kai Havertz had picked up a knee injury and reports indicate that the German international could spent significant time on the sidelines.
Arteta said this in a press conference ahead of Arsenal’s game against Leeds United on Saturday, August 23 at 16:30 GMT but the Spanish coach says circumstances connecting Eze and Havertz are non-existent.
“Unfortunately, he- Kai Havertz- picked up an injury and we don’t really know yet the extent of it.”

“We are not reacting to anything, we’ve been very prepared and understanding what we could do, and we have decided this is the moment to do it” Arteta said.

Eze didn’t compete in Palace’s UEFA Europa Conference League 1-0 win over Fredrikstad on August 21 ahead of a planned medical at Arsenal on Friday, August 22.
