Liverpool FC captain Virgil Van Dijk isn’t drooling over his team’s big win over Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany in the UEFA Champions League.
Liverpool ended its four game losing run with a big 5-1 win over the Germans despite conceding the game’s first goal.
Van Dijk scored Liverpool’s second goal after former Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike equalised for Liverpool. Ekitike joined Liverpool from Frankfurt this off-season.
Ibrahima Konate, Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo added three more goals to give Liverpool the win but Reds captain Van Dijk refused to term the win a statement win.
“I don’t know if it’s a statement but it is a win and something to build on. I’ve been in the football business for a while, so not relief.”
“Obviously we are disappointed with losing games, so it’s something we have to deal with, stick together and keep working.”
“Today we won and have to be ready for Brentford on Saturday. We don’t get dragged into the negative things that are going around” Van Dijk said to TNT Sports after the game.
