Ghana Sports Fund Bill passed by Parliament of Ghana

Sports Minister Kofi Adams

The Ghana Sports Fund Bill has been passed by the Parliament of Ghana with the Bill coming to the end of the consideration stage.

Delivered under a Certificate of Urgency, the bill was presented before Parliament on Thursday, December 18 with Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams and Chairman of the Sports Committee in Parliament, Ernest Nogbey being present for the proceedings.

“An act to establish the Ghana Sports Fund to provide sustainable funding for sports development in the country and sports for development to provide for the management of the fund and for related matters” was read before Parliament to which Ernest Nogbey responded, “no advertised amendment”.

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor, went on to call for a vote that went in favour of passing the bill to which he stated, “the Long Title is ordered to stand part of the bill”.

On the part of Sports Minister Kofi Adams, he responded to the motion by stating,

“Speaker I move that motion numbered 31 on today’s order paper be taken. By doing so, I request that this bill that has just gone through consideration be read a third time.”

A final vote on the bill was conducted and the bill was passed.
