Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has once again been subjected to racial abuse online, months after facing a similar incident earlier in the 2025-2026 season.

The latest incident came in the aftermath of Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the English Premier League.

Semenyo, who played the full match and contributed to City’s dominant performance, later celebrated the win on Instagram. However, his post was met with a racially abusive comment directed at him.

The incident adds to growing concerns over online abuse targeting footballers, even after high-profile awareness campaigns across the sport.

Semenyo reacted to the racist post by stating, “It’s started again…” with the Ghanaian clearly referencing the racist abuse he suffered in December 2025 when he featured in Bournemouth’s 4-2 loss to Liverpool.

The 26-year-old Semenyo moved from Bournemouth to Man City in January 2026 and has had a brilliant start to life at the Etihad, and has won the Carabao Cup.

Tijjani Reijnders, Jeremy Doku, Antoine Semenyo, Erling Haaland, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Savinho, Pep Guardiola, Nathan Ake, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Rodri, Erling Haaland, OMar Marmoush, Rayan Cherki, Savinho, Nico O’Rilley and Rico Lewis of Manchester City celebrate with the EFL Trophy after winning the Carabao Cup Final match between Arsenal and Manchester City (Photo by Nigel French/Sportsphoto/Allstar via Getty Images)

He has 15 league goals to his credit and is very likely to feature in Ghana’s 2026 World Cup squad.
