Antoine Semenyo delivered the decisive moment as Manchester City defeated Chelsea FC to win the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium.

In a final that struggled to produce sustained quality for long periods, Semenyo’s moment of brilliance ultimately separated the two sides and secured another major trophy for Pep Guardiola’s team.

The decisive goal arrived with 16 minutes remaining. After working tirelessly throughout the contest with limited opportunities, Erling Haaland produced a dangerous delivery into the area that Semenyo met perfectly on the move, guiding a clever right-footed flick beyond Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

The strike proved enough to hand City victory and cap another successful domestic campaign. The triumph also saw Guardiola’s side add the FA Cup to the Carabao Cup they previously secured against Arsenal, while ending a frustrating recent run of final defeats against Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

For Chelsea, however, the defeat extended their misery in the competition, with the London side now suffering a record fourth consecutive FA Cup final loss.

City Show Different Side Under Guardiola

While Manchester City are often associated with fluid attacking football and technical dominance, this victory reflected a more resilient and hard-working side to Guardiola’s team.

City were forced to battle through a tense and often scrappy encounter before Semenyo’s quality finally broke the deadlock. Guardiola’s relatively restrained celebrations after securing his third FA Cup title appeared to reflect the demanding nature of the contest rather than a comfortable triumph.

Semenyo, meanwhile, continued to justify the faith shown in him following his £65 million move from Bournemouth in January.

Manchester City’s attention now quickly shifts back to the Premier League title race, with Guardiola’s side sitting two points behind Arsenal with two matches remaining. Ironically, Semenyo is set to face his former club Bournemouth in City’s next fixture at the Vitality Stadium.

Chelsea Face Another Rebuild

Chelsea showed flashes of promise during parts of the second half and briefly threatened to unsettle City as their supporters hoped for a familiar Wembley revival.

However, the Blues struggled to convert promising moments into clear-cut opportunities and were ultimately punished by Semenyo’s decisive intervention.

The defeat leaves Chelsea facing another uncertain period as they continue their push to secure European football through their Premier League campaign.

For now, though, it is Manchester City and Antoine Semenyo celebrating after another trip to Wembley ended with silverware.
