Ahead of England’s big game against Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, England manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed his displeasure about the use of hydration breaks at the competition.
Hydration breaks have become a constant feature in this year’s World Cup over concerns on players’ health during the summer period in the co-host nations.
However, the decision has been largely criticised as unnecessary in circumstances when temperatures are cool including Tuchel.
England beat Croatia 4-2 in a game played at the Dallas Stadium under a closed roof in an air conditioned stadium leading Tuchel to state ahead of the Ghana clash on Tuesday, June 23 that,
“I think that it interrupts and changes the identity of a football match much more than I thought. I had hydration breaks before when it was really, really hot and needed, but they were shorter.”

Ghana’s game against England will be played in Boston where temperatures are expected to hover around 20 Degrees Celsius.
