Carlos Queiroz says Ghana is ready for the challenge of facing England in their second Group L match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressing confidence that the Black Stars can match one of the tournament favourites.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Carlos Queiroz acknowledged England’s quality but believes his side has a plan to deal with their strengths.

“We know how England plays. They have excellent players, and they have the experience of the Premier League. They have intensity, but we know how we can control this,” Queiroz said.
The Portuguese coach also rallied support behind his team, explaining that,
“We know they have three lions, but we have 33 million lions.”
The match will be another World Cup meeting between Queiroz and England. As Iran’s coach, he faced the Three Lions in the group stage of the 2022 tournament in Qatar, where his side lost 6-2.
Despite the result, Queiroz said the experience offered important lessons.
“I was not defeated. In football, we never lose. We win, or we learn. We learned a couple of lessons that day.”
Ghana will be seeking a positive result against England as they continue their Group L campaign on Tuesday, June 23, at the Boston Stadium.
