Small forward Jaylen Brown has expressed his disappointment about the way his exit from the Boston Celtics was handled by the team.
Brown got traded earlier this week from the Celtics to the Philadelphia Sixers for veteran forward Paul George and multiple draft picks including two in the first round.
Since getting drafted into the league as the third overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Brown has played for the Celtics and helped them to win the 2024 NBA title.
Despite averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists last season and being a five time NBA All-Star in his career, Brown was unhappy with the team after multiple attempts to trade him for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant in recent seasons.
Following the trade, Brown welcomed the move to Philadelphia and shared his frustrations about the Celtics on his live stream by stating that,

“I’m still processing how this all went down. I’m excited and disappointed at the same time. I earned my respect from this city. I never asked for shortcuts or special treatment.”

“I’m big on respect and actions speak louder than words. I’m excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the opportunity to join Philadelphia. I’m looking forward to earning that respect the only way I know how — through the work.”
