For the first time since 1973, the New York Knicks have won the NBA title. The Knicks recorded its first title in 53 years in its first finals appearance since 1999 after beating the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 to clinch the title via a 4-1 win in the best of seven game series.
The Knicks beat the Spurs 94-90 in San Antonio with the homeside blowing a 16 point lead to lose the game. In Game 4, San Antonio had a 29 point lead but ended up losing 107-106 in New York with De’Aaron Fox making a costly mistake with 14 seconds remaining in the game.
Just as he had done throughout the playoff series, Knicks guard Jalen Brunson led his team’s march to victory by scoring a remarkable 45 points out of his team’s 94 points overall.
On the other hand, Spurs star Victor Wembanyama struggled in Game 5 as he scored 19 points in 38 minutes on the back of converting seven of 19 field goal attempts.

Brunson was unanimously named as the Most Valuable Player of the Finals and winner of the Bill Russell Trophy and went on to praise the Knicks relentless spirit in a post game interview with ESPN by stating that

“We’re going to find a way. Whatever you put in front of us, we’re going to find a way. Every time we step on this court. Every time. It’s everything we ever dreamed of. It’s why I came to New York.”
