Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick says the club won’t be knocked down by losing its first game of the 2026-2027 English Premier League season in the first round of games.
He said this after the Red Devils lost 2-0 to newly promoted side Hull City away from home with Man United delivering an average performance at best.
Carrick’s side conceded both goals from set pieces with Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy scoring in the first half. Speaking to TNT Sports after the loss, Carrick said,
“We have a bit to improve on, it was never going to be perfect going behind makes it more difficult, against a promoted team at home, we’re disappointed but it won’t knock us.”

“Two goals is frustrating anyway, they decide the game today and there’s things to improve on, one game doesn’t change the direction of everything. It doesn’t change the direction of the football club.”

However, he stayed away from commenting on the club’s reported signing of Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba.
