Bayern Munich have confirmed that midfielder Jamal Musiala won’t compete in the team’s 2026-2027 season opener.
The defending German Bundesliga Champions are scheduled to take on Stuttgart on Friday, August 28 at 18:30 GMT.
However, one of the world’s highly rated young talents has been ruled of competing in the game despite training on Thursday, August 27.
Musiala collapsed twice in the space of four days in pre-season and revealed that it was down to a neurological dysfunction he was diagnosed with.
In a press briefing, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany revealed that the club knew about Musiala’s condition and the situation was under control but a change in treatment from Musiala’s end led to the seizures.
“That means he’s getting used to the increase in medication, that’s he’s reacting well to it.”
“He will be in the squad again sometime and he’ll play normally again, but of course we’ll take that decision hand in hand with all the [medical] experts and so on But he’s doing well” Kompany said.
