Shooting guard Amen Thompson has agreed to a lucrative five year contract extension with the Houston Rockets worth $208 million.
The contract extension comes on the back of Thompson completing his third year in the NBA after getting drafted fourth overall in the 2023 NBA Draft.
The 23 year old Thompson averaged a career high 18.3 points, 1.5 steals and 5.3 assists while registering 7.8 rebounds in 79 games in the regular season.
In the playoffs, Thompson averaged 19.2 points, seven rebounds and two steals in six games as the Rockets crashed out of the first round.
In the wake of the announcement of the contract extension, Rockets General Manager Rafael Stone said,

“Amen-Thompson- represents everything we want our organization to be about. He has elite two-way ability, a toughness and the will to outwork his peers, and he competes in every circumstance.”

“Year over year, he’s improved in every facet of his game, and we know his best basketball is ahead of him.”
