Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he isn’t bothered about his team not signing a winger beyond Christos Tzolis in the transfer window.
He said this ahead of Arsenal’s top clash against Chelsea on Sunday, September 6 with Arteta set to face childhood friend Xabi Alonso who is Chelsea’s manager.
Both teams have registered two wins in as many league games to open the 2026-2027 English Premier League season and this weekend’s game comes on the back of the closure of main football transfer window.
Arsenal sold Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli to Besiktas, Barcelona and Al-Hilal respectively but were reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid Vinicius Jr. and Olympique Lyonais’ Malick Fofana before missing out signing either of their targets.
“Yeah, 100% ticked (the boxes in the transfer window).”
“The outcome after can be different to what you expect, but the intention is certainly there, which is, in my opinion, what I value the most” Arteta said in response to questions regarding the club’s transfer activity.
Aside Tzolis, Arsenal signed defender Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa and Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.
