Ipswich Town manager Gary O’Neil has described Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku as a “great addition” to the club despite his red card in the defeat to Everton.

Issahaku was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in Ipswich’s 1-0 Premier League loss to Everton. The former Leicester City winger was booked for diving in the 67th minute, having received his first yellow card in the 35th minute.

Five games into his Ipswich career, Issahaku has registered one assist, with O’Neil saying the 22-year-old still has more to learn.

“I’ve spoken to him, he’s a young lad, you can see he is anticipating some contact. I’ve seen them given and I’ve seen them not given.”

“He understands the importance of him being on the pitch and us keeping 11 on the pitch, but he has been a great addition” O’Neil said to Premier League Productions.

Issahaku is part of Ghana’s squad called up to compete in 2027 AFCON qualification games later this month and a friendly against Morocco in October.
