Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) winger Kvicha Kvaratskhelia has vowed to work hard to recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered recently.
The Georgia international suffered the serious injury in PSG’s 4-2 win over FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
Kvaratskhelia suffered the injury after challenging Barcelona’s Xavi Espart in the second half but stayed on the turf before getting substituted for Maghnes Akliouche.
PSG confirmed that Kvaratskhelia will undergo surgery in the coming days and is set to be out for an extensive period.
Reacting to the injury, Kvaratskhelia shared, according to Spanish news outlet Marca, that he was devastated by the news but was sure to come back strong.

“Many people have asked me questions about this setback, many have said that if all the footballers in the world prayed, the match would end in a draw. That might be true, but before every match I play, I ask God to let me leave the pitch unscathed, but in vain.”

“It hasn’t been long, but it’s still on my mind: why me, really? I’ve never failed at anything, I probably prepared for this match in the best way I’ve ever prepared. I thought I was ready for everything, but I wasn’t, and I realize that God has chosen me and if He was protecting the players on another field, I am ready to go through these months of work, pain, tears.”

“I know I have to come back stronger for my people who always support me, I will not let them down, I promise I will not waste a single second. Thank you all for your support, see you soon” Kvaratskhelia said.
