Fabulous Ladies head coach Nana Atuahene has confirmed the death of his player, Agartha Takyiwa, popularly known as ‘One Cedi’, following a fatal stabbing incident near Afrancho in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region on Thursday, October 29.
Atuahene said the incident happened around 10:30 pm after Takyiwa had finished training and resumed work as a commercial tricycle operator, popularly known as a Pragya rider.
According to the coach, Takyiwa had picked up a female passenger and was taking her to Afrancho New Site when she encountered two men.
He said the player was attacked during an alleged attempt to seize her tricycle and stabbed multiple times in the thigh, stomach and neck.
“Yes, I can confirm to you that she was stabbed. She is a player, and she’s registered for the 2026/27 season,” Atuahene told Kumasi-based Luv FM.
“We trained together on Thursday, and she died that same day around 10:30 pm.”
The coach also disclosed that two suspects had been arrested in connection with the alleged killing.
“I can confirm that two people have been arrested in Techiman in connection with the alleged murder of Agartha Takyiwa,” he added.
Takyiwa’s death has shocked Fabulous Ladies and the wider Ghanaian women’s football community. She combined her football career with commercial tricycle operations to support herself.
