Ghanaian Sprinters Janet Amponsah and Hor Halutie have both made it into Thursday’s semi finals of the women’s 100m event while male sprinter Emmanuel Yeboah made it to the men’s semi final event.

Amponsah finished second in the women’s heat 1 with a time of 11.63, behind Ivorian Marie Josee Ta Lou, who crossed the line in a time of 11.25sec.

Halutie finished third in her heat, clocking 11.77sec to make it into the semis.

21 year old Emmanuel Yeboah also made the semis with a third place finish in the men 100m heat 5 with a time of 10.50sec.

Burkinabe sprinter Wengyam Bologo was disaqualified for a false start in the men’s heat 5, which Yeboah later complained resulted in him getting off the blocks late.

“This was not my best race. The false start was playing in my mind. Everybody was too careful not get off too early. But hopefully in the semi finals I will make amends,” Yeboah told Citi Sports.

All three will take to the track again on Thursday morning for their semi final events.
