Ghana’s Black Queens defeated South Africa 1-0 in their final warm-up game for the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Sunday evening.

Coach Bashir Hayford’s side started slowly in front of a sparse home crowd at the Accra Sport Stadium but found their rhythm after the first 15 minutes.

Striker Samira Sumaila opened the scoring in the 21 st minute when she met Captain Elizabeth Addo’s corner kick.

Ghana spurned a couple more chances with the Banyana Banyana offering little threat upfront as the game went into halftime break.

The second half saw a number of substitutions by both benches but the Black Queens looked stronger as they continued to dominate the game.

Elizabeth Addo came close to scoring in the 68 th minute when her free-kick came off the crossbar.

Portia Boakye also had her header go just over the bar after a good spell of possession by the Ghanaians.
After a good exercise, both the Black Queens would be looking to correct their mistakes at the 11 th Women’s Afcon kicks off next weekend.

Ghana will open the tournament against Algeria on November 17 while South Africa face defending champions Nigeria the following day.
