President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has cautioned critics of his administration to be measured in their appraisals.

According to him, using insulting or unsavoury language to get their points across could ultimately be hurtful to the game in Ghana.

Since he was overwhelmingly elected as GFA President, Kurt Okraku has faced some stiff opposition from parts of the football community in Ghana, over some of the Association’s decisions and policies.

While a lot of the criticism has been constructive, some of the attacks have crossed the line.

Speaking at the GFA’s Ordinary Congress on Tuesday, Kurt Okraku acknowledged the criticism he had received since he took over as President and advised commentators to address issues with more decorum.

“It’s our responsibility to hold on to this sport and ensure that we leave a lasting legacy to generations unborn,” he said.

“We’ll disagree, but when we believe in the vision, we’ll be careful in our utterances that ultimately may hurt the public good.”

The Congress saw a number of key decisions taken including the appointment of new auditors for the GFA and the budget for the year.

The allowances of the various members of the GFA’s Executive Committee were also revised.

The GFA President will earn GH¢12,000 as monthly allowance with the new rates over GH¢7,000 higher than the set amount in 2018 (GH¢4,388).

The GFA President will also earn GH¢1,600 as allowance for every sitting.

The Vice President of the Association is in line to earn GH¢7,000 monthly and GH¢1,400 per sitting, while the other ExCo members will receive GH¢4,000 every month and GH¢1,300 at every sitting.
