‘Nigeria’s Super Eagles are Ghana’s little babies, pretending to be big boys’ – GFA Boss

With just a day to go until the Black Stars take on Nigeria in Kumasi, people from either side of the divide have been trying to get the psychological edge with some savage jabs.

Ghana’s rivalry with Nigeria transcends football but the friendly banter between the two nations is usually at its peak when they have to face each other on the pitch.

Even the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku couldn’t resist having a sly dig at Ghana’s opponents on Friday.

In a message to Ghanaians ahead of the first leg of the 2022 World Cup playoff, Kurt Okraku expressed his confidence that the Black Stars would pick up a positive result against the Super Eagles.

He also tagged the Nigerian team as Ghana’s “little babies” who pretend to be the “big boys” whenever the two nations face each other.

“We have a common foe, the Super Eagles of Nigeria. They come across as our little babies but they pretend to be the big boys,” he said.

“At the Baba Yara Stadium, it will be our time, not only to bring down the Super Eagles but to take custody of that singular slot to qualify our country to the mundial in Qatar.”

The Black Stars do have a superior record in their matches against Nigeria.

Ghana’s 25 wins in all competitions are more than twice the number of wins for Nigeria.
