The Black Stars will travel to face USA in an international friendly match on 17th October at the GEODIS Park in Nashville.

The clash will be three days after the Americans play Germany in a preparatory game for the CONCACAF Nations League quarter-finals.

The game forms part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast upon qualification and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Chris Hughton’s side have an incoming AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar in Antananarivo on June 18, before hosting the Central Africa Republic in September.

Speaking to Ghanafa.org, President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku said:

“We have always been looking for these kind of opportunities to continue our team building exercise.”

“So playing the United States of America has come in handy.

“We have two more matches to end the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and will need matches of these nature to prepare for future assignments”.

“The game presents to us a very good platform to test our strength against one of the best teams in the World”.

This will be the 5th meeting between the Black Stars and USA in all competitions, with all previous matches ending 2-1.

In their first ever match, Ghana beat the Americans at the 2006 World Cup group stage.

The Stars dominated the Yanks in their next clash at the 2010 World Cup quarter-finals.

USA recorded their first-ever win over Ghana at the 2014 World Cup group stage in Brazil, following by another slim win in a friendly match in 2017.
