Executive Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 13th African Games, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare has called on Ghanaians to support the March 2024 Games as it has immense economic benefits for the country.
More than 3,000 athletes, technical officials, journalists and global celebrities will gather in the Ghanaian capital, Accra from March 8 to March 23, 2024, to participate in the African Games, with television and
an online audience of more than 5.5 billion.

Speaking from Birmingham, where the LOC participated in the Commonwealth Games Observer Overview
Programme, Dr Ofosu-Asare emphasised that the Pan African Games was a great opportunity to boost Ghana’s economy.
“We need to take advantage of this opportunity and prepare very well to host the Games and benefit from it and I believe that we stand a chance of benefiting from it,” he said.
“The ripple effects on our economy would be staggering. If you look at how businesses are benefitting from the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham we can do the same,” he added.
He further stated that the host country must strive to maintain the high standard and quality synonymous with the continental showpiece.
“The whole nation must understand that this is the first time that we are hosting the Games. And, there are certain things that we cannot compromise on especially, in terms of quality and standards,” he said
