Head coach of Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, Nora Hauptle, expects Ghana’s set participation in the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations as one that is sure to be “special”.
She said this on the sidelines of the Black Queens arrival at the Kotoka International Airport after sealing qualification to next year’s competition.
Ghana lost 1-0 to Namibia in South Africa in the second leg of the final round of qualification games but a 3-1 win in the first leg was enough to get a 3-2 aggregate win and seal Ghana’s return to the tournament.
For Hauptle, the tournament expects Ghana’s return to the AWCON to be a special one, saying, “I am very proud of my players.”
“I am very happy for them, for some of them probably it’s the last AWCON, some it’s the very first AWCON, so it will be a very special tournament for all of us.”
Ghana missed out on qualifying to the 2022 edition held in Morocco but returns to Morocco for the upcoming edition next year.
