Vice President of Ghana Basketball Federation (Administration), Alex Kukula, believes Ghana’s contingent competing in the 13th African Games 3×3 Basketball event will perform better in the upcoming round of games.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after Ghana had a mixed bag of results to open the tournament that is being held in Ghana for the first time.
In the Women’s Division, Ghana lost 4-21 to Egypt but recovered to beat Madagascar 21-12 while in the Men’s Division, Ghana beat Benin 16-11 but lost 12-16 to Madagascar.
After talking up the success of organizing the competition that has drawn compliments from major stakeholders, Ghana Basketball Vice President Kukula was high on Ghana’s chances to do better.
“These are very dedicated young men and women…for some of them, this is their first major championship. We saw our women in the first game, jitters against the number one in Africa, they didn’t play their best but they came back and beat a very good team. For the guys, trust me they will do better next time.”

The competition continues today at 15:00 GMT at the University of Ghana Basketball Court with 10 games scheduled to be played.
