Head coach of Ghana’s National Women’s Under 20 Team (Black Princesses), Yussif Basigi, says his team won’t take the Senegalese challenge lightly.
He said this in a pre game interview as the Princesses prepare to take on Senegal in the semifinals of the 13TH African Games at the Cape Coast Stadium today at 20:30 GMT.
The Princesses qualified top of Group A after recording a 1-1 draw with Uganda with Mukarama Abdulai equalized for Ghana after the Princesses conceded an own goal from a defensive mix up.
Despite beating Senegal twice (2-0 in Dakar and 5-1 in Kumasi) en route to qualify for the Under 20 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held in Colombia from August 31 to September 22, Basigi believes his team won’t be complacent against the Senegalese.
“We have played Senegal in Dakar and in Kumasi so I wouldn’t use that as a yardstick…meaning that they are a weaker side…coaches keep changing their style of play. I will also stick to what I saw here then play according to their tactics.”
