South Africa National Men’s Beach Volleyball Team player, Leo Williams, has pegged his team’s loss in the 13th African Games Men’s Beach Volleyball final on over complicating its game play.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after South Africa lost by two straight sets to Morocco at the Laboma Beach to miss out on winning gold at the African Games.
Ahead of the game, Williams stated that South Africa wasn’t under pressure but was only focused on playing their game via a steady approach.
However, South Africa lost its way in the game and Williams noted it in his interview while admitting too many mistakes were made on his team’s part stating,
“I think we overcomplicated the game a bit. We made too many mistakes, we didn’t execute our plan. They played simple volley ball but effective so I think we must take a page out of that. We don’t have to change our game too much to try to win. I’m not happy with today, we didn’t execute the skills well but we are on the podium.”
