2023-2024 Ghana Premier League champions, FC Samartex 1996, will compete in its maiden CAF Champions League game against Cameroon’s Victoria United.

The game was confirmed following the official draw by CAF in Cairo, Egypt with the likes of defending champions Al-Ahly of Egypt getting a bye.

The first of two games against Victoria will take place in the period between September 15 and 15 with the second leg happening in the period from September 20 and 22.

The winner of the tie will take on the winner of the ASGNN-Raja Casablanca of Morocco in the next round. The likes of TP Mazembe of DR Congo, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa and Esperance de Tunis of Tunisia also got a first round bye.

Samartex shocked the field to win the Ghana Premier League in only its second season competing in the top flight division.

Since winning the league, Samartex have lost key midfielders Salifu Dauda and Emmanuel Keyekeh; Dauda moved to Rwanda’s APR while Keyekeh moved to Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars.
