Ghanaian swimmer Harry Stacey has praised the quality and the atmosphere at the Paris La Defense Arena, which is the venue hosting the swimming events at the 2024 Olympic Games.
Contrary to reports of some dissatisfaction by some athletes and officials about the Arena’s pool, Stacey is adamant the Arena is a great one.
Stacey, who talked about how excited he was competing in the Olympic swimming event, said this in an interview with the Ghana Olympic Committee media ahead of his heat in the Men’s 100 Metre Freestyle on Tuesday, July 30 at 9:15 GMT. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“Honestly, it’s a great arena, it’s lovely. I was there this morning just watching the Heats not even the finals and the atmosphere was insane. It’s really like a football experience you know not just like regular swimming, it’s huge.”
Stacey is one of just two Ghanaian swimmers at the Paris Olympics with female swimmer Joselle Mensah being the other.
Ghana’s top ranked female swimmer is set to compete on August 3 in the Women’s 50 Metre Freestyle Heat; Ghana is yet to win a medal in swimming at the Olympics.

The likes of Rose Yeboah and Joseph Paul Amoah will represent Ghana in the Women’s High Jump and Men’s 4×100 Metre Relay Team.
