The Achimota Golf Course recently hosted an Invitational Golf Tournament in collaboration with Sun Lodge hotel with the event serving as a prelude to the hotel’s upcoming 50th-anniversary celebration.
The event which took place on 14th September 2024, was a filled with sport, tradition, and camaraderie.
Golf enthusiasts and hotel patrons were present at the celebrations, starting with an early morning tee-off at 7:30 AM, followed by the ceremonial tee-Off at 8:00 AM.
There were awards with the overall best female winner of the day, receiving a Business Class ticket to Lome (round trip) to be hosted in a 5-star hotel plus 500 USD spending money.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Chief Executive officer, Jacquie Obeng-Ansong highlighted the relationship between hospitality and sports, the juncture where Sun Lodge Hotel and Achimota Golf Club meet.
“For the last two years we’ve been running their restaurant and it’s been a fruitful one for both parties,” she said.
Charles Ashiagbor the Events, Conference and Banquets Manager was vocal about making the Golf Tournament an annual one to bring more eyes on the sport and strengthen the partnership between the Sun Lodge Hotel and Achimota Golf Club.
“We have a relationship, which is like marriage. We try to foster this relationship and build everything about golf. Usually golf tournaments like this are organized once a year. We want to make this an annual event to always mark the anniversary of the hotel.”
Sun Lodge Hotel has been in existence since January 1973 and has become a partner to the Achimota Golf Club.
