Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus has scored his second goal of the season but his goal was overshadowed by West Ham’s loss and Kudus receiving a straight red card after a series of altercations with Tottenham Hotspurs players.
Kudus scored in the 18th minute by finishing off a cross from Jarod Bowen with his weaker right foot after his earlier attempt in the game from a similar position was saved by Guglielmo Vicario.
The former Ajax midfielder got his first of the season against Ipswich just before the international break but unlike his first, his second goal didn’t end up in a win as West Ham collapsed in the second half en route to losing 4-1 at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium on Saturday, October 19.
Things turned from bad to worse for West Ham as Kudus was sent off for violent conduct after hitting Micky Van De Ven and Pape Sarr in the face.
The Black Stars midfielder was initially shown a yellow card but a VAR review deemed his actions violent enough to deserve a red card.
The red card comes off a very frustrating time for Kudus who was captain of the Black Stars in a goalless draw with Sudan and a 2-0 loss to Sudan in a 2025 AFCON qualification double header during the international window.
