Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs Football Club operations director Dad Simpson says he is surprised by the criticism of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) from some Division One clubs regarding the buses donated by the Association.
The GFA, under the leadership of President Kurt Okraku, donated buses to nine Division One clubs in a ceremony held at the Accra Sports Stadium. This initiative fulfilled a promise made by Okraku during the 29th Ordinary Congress in Kumasi in 2023.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, Dad Simpson described the donation as a “blessing in disguise” and emphasized the gesture’s positive impact on struggling clubs.
“We are privileged to have this bus, because we drove it from Accra to Cape Coast and for me the (car’s) condition, I don’t think we had any problem with it.The only minor problem we have is to create middle space so that it can contain the number of passengers we want. The bus is so economical that I’m kind of excited about a gift like this from the FA.”
“I’m surprised that I have been hearing some of them (the club’s complain), Dwarfs we don’t have any issue whatsoever with the bus.It will give us a good opportunity to save money. Teams in Ghana when you don’t have money, it is a problem.”
“We bought fuel Ghc 1000 (to move) from Accra to Cape Coast, and when we got to Cape Coast it was left with Ghc 500.Meanwhile our old bus would have cost us Ghc 2000.Yes, I know people were expecting a brand new bus but a beggar has no choice and I’m surprised many people are talking about it but getting this for free is a blessing in disguise.
Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs are one of nine clubs that received a bus for finishing among the top three teams in Zone Two of the 2023/24 Access Bank Division One League.
