EPL on Citi: African Stars Shine Bright in Europe’s Top League

This week in the English Premier League, several African players delivered standout performances, showcasing their talent and impact on their respective teams. Here’s a breakdown of the top African performers.

The Burkinabe winger stole the spotlight, earning Man of the Match honors with a sensational hat-trick. Ouattara played 89 minutes, registered 37 touches, and completed 81% of his passes; with this performance, he has now scored six goals this season, cementing his role as a key player for his team.

Semenyo’s excellent form continued as he scored a goal and played the full 90 minutes, earning an impressive 8.1 match rating.

His tally for the season now stands at seven goals, and his two consecutive goal contributions including an assist in the previous game that underline his growing consistency in front of goal.

Illiman Ndiaye (Senegal)

The Senegal international delivered a remarkable performance for Everton, scoring the only goal in the game in their victory over Brighton & Hove Albion. Ndiaye played 78 minutes, had 41 touches, and completed 74% of his passes. His lone goal gave  Everton that much-needed win, making him the star of the match.

Thomas Partey (Ghana)

Partey once again showed his class in midfield, completing 89% of his passes from 68 touches and winning an impressive 85% of his ground duels. The Ghanaian also executed perfect long-ball crosses, showcasing his ability to dictate the tempo of the game and break down opposition defenses.

Emmanuel Agbadou (Ivory Coast)

Agbadou was a rock in defense, playing the entire duration of the game and making 98 touches. The Ivorian registered five clearances, six interceptions, and completed all four of his dribble attempts. Winning 97% of his ground duels and 90% of his aerial duels, Agbadou delivered one of the most commanding defensive performances of the week.

Mohamed Salah (Egypt)

The Egyptian King etched his name further into Premier League history, surpassing Thierry Henry’s goal tally with his 177th league goal. Salah contributed a goal and an assist, underlining his status as one of the most prolific players in the league’s history.

Marmoush made a promising debut for Manchester City, completing 91% of his passes from 28 touches and creating one chance. The Egyptian forward’s performance hints at a bright future with his new club.

Nicolas Jackson (Senegal)

Although Chelsea fell to defeat, Jackson’s performance stood out as he assisted Noni Madueke’s consolation goal. The Senegalese forward also won 90% of his ground duels, showing determination and grit throughout the match.

Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon)

The Cameroonian forward delivered Brentford’s only goal, calmly converting a penalty in a hard-fought match. Mbeumo continues to be a reliable attacking option for his side.

Bilal El Khannous (Morocco)

El Khannous scored in the 59th minute to secure his second goal of the season in 18 appearances. The young Moroccan midfielder is proving to be a vital part of his team’s plans with his decisive contributions.

Alex Iwobi (Nigeria)

Despite Fulham’s loss to Manchester United, Iwobi was one of the standout players, completing 79% of his passes and delivering pinpoint long balls. The Nigerian midfielder also registered two shots on target, highlighting his creativity and attacking prowess.
