The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has unveiled Nora Hauptle as the new head coach of the Copper Queens, tasking her with leading the team to win the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and ultimately secure a place at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
FAZ President Andrew Kamanga expressed appreciation for the efforts and achievements of the outgoing coach, Bruce Mwape, and his technical bench, highlighting their instrumental role in advancing Zambia’s women’s football.
Kamanga noted that while outgoing coach, Bruce Mwape’s contributions were remarkable, it was time to set new goals and chart a fresh course for the team.
He expressed confidence in Hauptle’s ability to lead the Copper Queens into a new era of success.
“We have since appointed Coach Nora with clear targets that she should take the team to the next level.”

“One of the targets that we’ve set is that we need to win the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations coming up in July and also make sure that we qualify for the 2026 edition, which will be a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA World Cup. We’ve also tasked the new technical bench to qualify us for the 2028 Olympics and beyond.”

Hauptle’s appointment signals a new chapter for the Copper Queens as they aim to build on their recent successes and continue to rise as a formidable force in women’s football on the continent and the world stage as she resigned as the Black Queens coach and Kim Lars was appointed.
