Director of competitions at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Julius Ben Emunah, has stated emphatically that Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s postponed game against Sekondi XI Wise is an agreement between the club and the GFA and not the result of a Kotoko boycott as some have suggested.

The round of 16 stage games in the MTN FA Cup 2024-2025 season takes place this weekend with Access Bank Division One League side Attram De Visser opening the round with a clash against Ghana Premier League outfit Bibiani Gold Stars on Friday, September 21.

However, Kotoko’s scheduled game against Sekondi XI Wise has been postponed and in an exclusive interview on ChannelOne TV’s Football Made In Ghana, Julius Emunah made it clear that this was the agreement between the GFA and Kotoko and not a boycott by the club stemming from the death of club supporter Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong at a league game in Nsoatre.

“Let me clarify this that Kotoko is not playing this weekend because Kotoko have chosen to boycott the FA Cup. Kotoko is not playing this weekend because the GFA and Kotoko, after a meeting, have agreed to postpone that match and fix another date for it.”
