Veteran sports journalist Bright Kankam Boadu has tagged the “Politicization” of Ghana football as a major problem hampering the development of the sport.

The 2025 Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Award Winner, who is a big advocate of the Ghana Premier League slammed this development as a big reason football in Ghana is still failing.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports while calling for another Save Ghana Football Demonstration to be held at a time, the Ghana League has witnessed the death of Kumasi Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong at a league game. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“Ghana football needs to admit that something is wrong with us but because of, more like, the politicization of our football hierarchy, people feel that if I admit things are not going well, the other parts will campaign with that against me, I will lose my votes so even when it’s not good, I will say it’s good” Kankam Boadu said.
