The Upper West Regional Physical Education (PE) Coordinator Julius Angsonmwine, has expressed how impressed he is over the use of the Wa Youth Resource Centre.
The Wa Youth Resource Centre is one of only two centres that have been completed and is in use. The remaining eight centres scattered across different locations in Ghana are yet to be completed and put to use.
Recently appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Osman Ayariga, in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports stated that the remaining centres will be completed under his watch with six more to be built. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
However, the Wa Centre recently hosted the “Jersey Friday” event by the Leadership Community School and using the multi-purpose facility to incorporate physical activity into academic programs certainly impressed the region’s PE Coordinator.
“I’m impressed with what I’ve seen so far. All children, all ladies are engaged, actively participating, and enjoying all that is taking place,” he remarked and added that

“By promoting activities that stimulate both the body and the mind, students learn to solve problems creatively—skills that are critical for academic success and overall personal development.”

Frank Opoku Afram, the Administrator and Executive Director of Leadership Community School, highlighted how the Jersey Friday event at the Wa Multipurpose Youth Resource Center was designed to instill a spirit of sportsmanship among students.

“We are undertaking several games including football, egg race, relay race, hundred meters, and sack race in order to nurture the sports spirit in our kids,” he said.
