Black Satellites Assistant Coach, Fatawu Salifu, is urging the security personnel deployed at match centres to perform their duties diligently rather than watching games alongside supporters.
His remarks come amid growing calls for enhanced security measures to address the rising issue of hooliganism, which has led to the suspension of the Ghana Premier League.
“I think with the security service, let me say the Ghana Police, they have to take our game centres seriously whenever they are there.
“They shouldn’t go there as fans of the clubs, but they should go there to protect us”. – Black Satellites Assistant Coach 🇬🇭#CitiSports pic.twitter.com/2Z65gqhKg2

He disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports on February 19, 2025.
Well, if you look at what happened, we were not supposed for someone to lose his life before we take security serious.
Normally you go to centers and you see the security there, but it looks like they give the chance to people to misbehave, so i think that after this, i think they will stay professional.
I think the security service, let me say the Ghana Police they have to take our game centers seriously whenever they are there, they shouldn’t go there as fans of the clubs, but they should go there to protect us.
Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko took significant steps in partnership with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to elevate the Ghana Premier League.
During a high-level meeting on February 17, 2025, the two clubs agreed on key measures to enhance league standards, safety, and security.
The meeting convened at the GFA’s request and addressed a joint petition from both clubs.
Discussions focused on implementing stronger safety protocols, increasing security personnel, and advancing plans for an autonomous league structure.
