Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, is adamant that the playing surface of the Accra Sports Stadium is in very good condition to be used for the Black Stars 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad.
Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team is scheduled to play against Chad on Friday, March 21 in the first of two qualification games for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the second being a tie against Madagascar in Morocco on March 24.
Speaking to the media after visiting the first training session of the team, the Sports Minister believes the playing surface that has come under intense scrutiny in the past is in good shape to host the game.
“So far, so good, we are fixing what must be fixed. The lighting system is improving, the flood lights, the scoreboard it’s been worked, the seats are also being worked on.

At least the pitch, everybody who has criticized our pitch, now is impressed about the pitch so let’s all rally the support for the team because that is the team we have” he said.

Black Stars Training has commenced with just six outfield players participating in the session: Kamaldeen Sulemana, Razak Simpson, Mohammed Salisu, Gideon Mensah, Kamaradini Mamudu, Antoine Semenyo.
