Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has stated that the commitment shown by members of a committee of enquiry to investigate the death of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju, won’t be in vain.
He said this in his speech delivered after receiving the report by the committee that was set up in April to investigate the circumstances that led to the passing of Olanrewaju in a boxing bout on March 29 this year.
The seven man committee, led by, Major Retired Amarkai Amarteifio presented the report to the Minister and in a brief interaction with the media, Honourable Kofi Adams praised the efforts of the body stating,
“I’m impressed with the commitment that you showed and this commitment will not go in vain. On behalf of His Excellency the President [John Dramani Mahama], I say a big thank you for… presenting the report on time. The Ministry has received the report, we will study it and then make sure that we implement the findings.”

40 year old Nigerian boxer Olanrewaju collapsed during a boxing bout and was pronounced dead at the Korle-Bu Hospital after he was stretchered out of the ring to the hospital.
