Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has pointed to Ghana’s success as a major factor in attracting foreign born players of Ghanaian descent to Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team moving forward.
He made this disclosure in a pre-game presser as Ghana prepares to play against Trinidad and Tobago in the third place game of the Unity Cup at the G-Tech Community Centre.
Ghana lost 2-1 to Nigeria in its opening game while Jamaica beat Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 to set up the final with both games taking place on Saturday, May 31.
Responding to a question regarding competing teams in the tournament fielding such players, Otto Addo pointed to Ghana’s involvement in such issues pointing to bringing in Black Stars regulars like Antoine Semenyo and Inaki Williams who were born in England and Spain respectively.
“We convinced players like Antoine Semenyo, Tariq Lamptey, Inaki Williams so we really have good experience with that. Surely anyone one of Ghanaian descent we are always interested so we have a big database, we are always looking on their matches especially those who play in higher leagues we try to get in touch with them to see if they are available” Otto Addo said and added that

“Luckily we’ve already found good ones but surely we are still looking. I think the more successful we are, the more we are also interesting enough for the players.”
